12 Bar Blues

12 Bar Blues

Picking up where Stone Temple Pilots' idiosyncratic Tiny Music ... left off, Scott Weiland’s solo debut further fleshes out the singer/songwriter’s art rock tendencies. Intricately layered vocals slink through crumbling drum loops, glam riffs, and copious studio effects. “Lady, Your Roof Brings Me Down” is a fractured waltz riddled with synthesizer and accordion; “Where’s the Man” starts out as a folk ballad but gradually dissolves into mind-altering ether. Falling somewhere between robotic rock and old-school megamix, “Jimmy Was a Stimulator” is Weiland at his most peculiar and visionary.
