Post modern deconstruction
Great details and timelines, but significant leaps in logic, especially with Oswald, to fit the “MK Ultra” thesis. The imposition of psychological diagnosis on CIA leaders Helms & Engleton is strident and unnecessary to build the premise of CIA involvement. And the assumptions that E. Howard Hunt was a strategic mastermind in 1963 are unfounded and give him more rank and credit than necessary to perform a compartmentalized role. The post-facto Watergate functions of Hunt being anything more than a rogue narcissist does not add to the odds that he was a key actor in 1963... That said, this book lays out a compelling case for CIA initiation and involvement in both Kennedy assassinations. The Bay of Pigs failed mission, and the fact that key details were withheld and designed to manipulate President Kennedy, and the Diem “executive action” provide sufficient and compelling motive and opportunity for CIA involvement. If CIA was involved with John, then keeping Bobby out of the Whitehouse is a logical eventuality. I loved the synthesis of the vast details and the overlay of timing with dates and places that get lost in other 60’s assassination books. Well worth the listen - just keep a few grains of salt at the ready!
