After It All

After It All

The North Carolina–based sextet Delta Rae achieve a powerful flexibility that includes reflective moments and unrestrained grandiosity on their second album, After It All. Producers Peter Katis (Interpol), Rob Cavallo (Green Day), and Julian Raymond (Glen Campbell) pull out all the stops to emphasize the commercial potential of songs like “Outlaws,” “You’re the One for Me,” and “Scared.” The limits of Americana felt on their debut are clearly breached. Singers Brittany Holljes and Elizabeth Hopkins offer epic readings of “Chasing Twisters” and “Bethlehem Steel” that break this album wide open, and the mild “Dead End Road” reminds us that smaller moments also can be just as powerful.
