About David Wayne

In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. I began my musical journey in 2010 by releasing covers of hit songs on YouTube, using feedback from viewers to hone my craft. In 2012, I moved from Maryland to New York City, immersing myself in the scene by gracing open mics & local stages. What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Beyoncé, BEYONCÉ The Isley Brothers, Mission to Please The Weeknd, House of Balloons I'm inspired by the daring artistry of albums like Beyonce's self-titled and House of Balloons, and the iconic sound 90s/00s R&B, epitomized by The Isley Brothers' "Mission to Please". I meld these influences into my unique sound and artistry. Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Twisted” This was my most successful song, hitting 10k+ streams and gaining radio coverage. This set the stage for my 2017 Trap/R&B EP, "BAPTISM". It gained tens of thousands of streams, with coverage on Singersroom, Soulbounce, Respect Magazine, and RnBass. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? I built strong momentum between 2017-2019, with the release of my Trap/R&B EP 'BAPTISM' to wide acclaim. During this time, my sound evolved from club-R&B hits to a more distinct indie R&B, highlighted in tracks like "Show Don't Tell." Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? I aim to dive deep into my indie-R&B essence, celebrating my unique ability to craft an entire experience solo. I constantly push my own boundaries.
