Publisher Description

"Mose T A to Z: The Folk Art of Mose Tolliver” by Anton Haardt is a multi-media experience with video and audio of Mose talking, interviews, photographs of Mose Tolliver paintings, and Tolliver’s personal expressions about life, presented in his natural and common language. It also includes essays by Lee Kogan, Aton Haardt, and Regenia Perry.
Mose Tolliver is one of the most widely admired and best-known self-taught artists to have worked in the United States. Among the qualities inherent in his work is a sense of humor that reflected his own personality. A gregarious, fun-loving, and cheerful person, Mose was an inveterate optimist. In spite of the work-related accident that left him permanently crippled and in constant pain, his spirits were never dampened. Ironically, if Mose had not been forced to retire after the accident, it is unlikely that he would have had the time or motivation to develop an interest in painting.
