Publisher Description

After thousands of hours of research and data entry over a 35-year period, the information on the disposition of some 25,000 US Navy, US Marine Corps and US Coast Guard aircraft needs to be published. These aircraft mainly represent those lost during World War II but it also contains aircraft built before and during WWII that were disposed of after WWII - lost during the Korean War, sold to private investors, currently located in museums and even some still as “gate guards” across the US. Help with my research was from archival information provided primarily by the U.S. Navy’s History and Heritage Command, the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA), the Smithsonian’s National Air & Space Museum, and Joe Baugher who keeps a website of military aircraft Bureau Numbers and serial numbers as up-to-date as humanly possible.
