#006: god's compassion for our suffering
On March 9, 2013, I gave a powerful talk on God’s Compassion for Our Suffering during a conference on the Meaning of Suffering at St. John’s University. I was so happy to speak about the compassion of our Father who reaches out to us through his Son and Holy Spirit. In the course of the talk, I lead the audience through the deeper meanings of the story of the Prodigal Son (Luke 15:11-32).

#005: from pain to paint
On March 26, 2014, on Holy Saturday during the Easter Tridiuum! My presentation is called "From Pain to Paint." The first five minutes were not recorded. I basically start by saying there are two Holy Saturdays (sabbaths). The First Holy Saturday is the seventh day in Genesis chapter 1. God looks at his creation and declares it "very good" as he dwells in resting presence with his creation, with his people. The Second Holy Saturday is the day between Good Friday and Easter Sunday, which is the focus of the presentation. But, I say, these two Saturdays belong together. This first is about creation and the second is about redemption, but they are both about God's compassionate presence. After this first five minutes, the rest of the talk is there for you. Enjoy!

#003: freedom to love
On September 29, 2012, I gave a moving presentation on freedom in relation to suffering, love, and the writings of Adrienne von Speyr on Mary. The word that begins the presentation is from a volunteer at Heart’s Home, Marian W., “I wanted the freedom to love.” Freedom as a gift from God is the critcal word of the presentation, but then I use it in relation to Adrienne von Speyr’s understanding of Mary as the perfectly free woman to help us understand that freedom enables love.

#002: expectancy
On January 3, 2014, I spoke about expectancy to a gathering of my friends at Heart's Home. It was a message of hope, of saying one big YES to God. I hope you will listen to the hour long message that will speak expectancy into your life as you meditate on the central passage of Romans 8:28 "We know that in everything God works for good with those that love him, who are called according to his purpose."
