About James Madx

In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. I remember the first instrument I played and learned was bass when I was 5 years old. My dad played, and he always had R&B, funk records from the 80s. What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Amy Winehouse, Frank Frank Ocean, channel ORANGE Tame Impala, Currents These albums, to me, are super colourful. They are sonically and lyrically gripping, and just added a different dimension of world building for me as an artist. I listened to each of them for months on end. Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Round and Round” Round and Round is special to me because it's the last song that I wrote on the Emotions Tick album, and it was weirdly eye-opening for me as a person. I feel like I was able to capture an emotionally dense moment in my story. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? Finally releasing Emotions Tick was just a weight off of my shoulders. Spending so long with these characters and producing the sounds that fit the stories was arduous, but enjoyable. So I'm glad it's out. Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? If I'm fortunate enough to work with Pharrell Williams, that would be iconic! I think at some point I'd love to do the music for a film. I think that would be fun.
