This release is technically the first of three EPs, featuring seven studio cuts and two live acoustic tracks appended to the end. It’s been five years since Jo Dee Messina's last studio album Delicious Surprise. Her career has been a series of stops and starts but artistically she represents an unshakeable Nashville grandiosity that incorporates the brawn of a hard-rock production with the sweetness of country music at its most touching. “Hard Life” and “Always Have, Always Will” are upbeat country-rockers where Messina’s voice is thickened for the choruses and the band is big and flawless. She slows things down for the title track where her voice is given the most range to tackle the keyboards and guitars that build towards the climatic chorus. “Welcome to the Rest of My Life” is an inspirational anthem. “Treat Me Like a Woman Today” adds a swashbuckling sprint to its step. “Think About Us” reflects on love past but not forgotten. The acoustic tracks are stripped down to allow Messina’s voice to soar to diva heights.
