About Elizabeth Joy Roe

Elizabeth Joy Roe is an American pianist. She began taking piano lessons at six, and went on to study with Emilio del Rosario, Vladimir Leyetchkiss, and Theodore Edel. By the time she was 13, she won the grand prize at the IBLA International Piano Competition in Italy. In 2004, she earned her B.M. at the Juilliard School of Music, and in 2006, she received her M.M. in piano. Roe has worked with Emanuel Ax, Leon Fleisher, Claude Frank, Richard Goode, Miriam Fried, Ralph Kirshbaum, Joseph Kalichstein, Robert Levin, and Arie Vardi. She met Greg Anderson at Juilliard, and they teamed up in 2002 as the Anderson & Roe Piano Duo. In addition to performances at the Mostly Mozart Festival, they have toured across North America, Europe, and Asia. She has recorded for Decca.
