Guido Palau Talks Hair
Legendary hairstylist Guido Palau, who developed the new Zara Hair line and worked on Edward Enninful’s final cover for British Vogue, has done runway hair for pretty much every fashion label (Prada, Valentino, Marc Jacobs) and cut the hair of all the top models (Kaia Gerber included). He’s here to tell us about his career path in the fashion industry, share his creative process, and talk about some of the products he’s created for brands like Redken. This was Guido’s first podcast interview ever, and it originally aired in 2019; we’re replaying it now, with a new introduction, to celebrate all the gorgeous work he’s been doing lately.

Ep. 524: Cosmetic Injectables, David Beckham’s Nipples & The Week’s Beauty News
Guest co-host Garrett Munce, author of Self-Care for Men, gives Jenn his honest opinion on her Botox and filler, and then there’s much more to cover: why men want David Beckham’s nipples; the popularity of facelifts; how people would rather look healthy than be healthy; the success of Black-founded beauty brands; which beauty companies do the best merch; and a candle that smells like dirt after the rain. Plus, a cursory acknowledgement of Bella Hadid’s Ôrebella line and Kylie Jenner’s new perfume.

Ep. 523: Ugly Standards, Influencer Trips & The Week’s Beauty News
Guest co-host Anita Bhagwandas, author of Ugly: Giving Us Back our Beauty Standards and the Substack newsletter The Powder Room, joins Jenn to talk about pretty privilege, whether influencer trips are still a smart marketing tactic, if wearing makeup while you exercise is really that bad, discontinued products, and why Anita likes to decant her makeup into vintage pill boxes. Plus, we recommend body exfoliators for last week’s guest co-host, and raise our wands to a witchy candle, an appropriately nude lip liner, and a “topper” that makes cream blush look better and last longer.

Customer Reviews
I would give more than 5 stars if it were an option
They are the best. Most recently they played my vm and are diligently trying to get me a solution to my allergy makeup issue. Love listening to these two talented, educated ladies around my age so it’s fun to hear the back in the day beauty we used to love. Jess quit your day job and stay with Jen 😂❤️
Your beauty BFFs!
I am a long time listener (~5years) and can definitely say that Jess and Jenn will become your beauty bffs! They are so knowledgeable, informative, fun and witty, and I often find myself laughing out loud at some of their commentary. You don’t have to be deep in the beauty world to enjoy! Love the pod, thanks ladies!
Like listening to a beauty mag!
I've been listening to this podcast on-and-off for over 5 years and never left a review-until now! My recent fav has been Jen's science corner and hearing tidbits from Jess about Moda Operandi. I personally would love to see more interviews from people involved behind the scenes like cosmetic chemists, packaging designers, product testers, even bigwigs (like Estee Lauder's president interview).
