Swedish indie outfit Magic Potion emerged in early 2015 with their debut single, "Deep Web," a summery, laid-back slice of amiable stoner pop. The Stockholm-based band quickly found favor with U.K. label Punk Slime Recordings, which issued their debut EP, Melt, in the summer of that year. Self-recorded by the band on analog reel-to-reel tape, Magic Potion's wobbly slacker jams were well received and members Gustaf Montelius, Andreas Sandberg, Kristoffer Byström, and Johan Harrius soon got to work on their first full-length. Once again, the sessions were recorded and produced by the bandmembers themselves, and resulted in the Pink Gum LP, which was released in the spring of 2016. ~ Timothy Monger
