Faces

Faces

Citing the lock-step groove that the core members of EWF had developed by this point in their career, bandleader Maurice White once described Faces as his favourite album. Even as R&B standards of the early '80s tilted toward synthesisers and electronic percussion, White opted for full strings and horns (and an actual pipe organ), extravagances that the band had rightfully earned. Those extras shine on the old-school jam "Pride", the rocking lead single, "Let Me Talk", and the massive, seven-minute-long title track.
