Midlife Ramblings - Full Moons, Stupid Media and Learning New Things!

In this episode I share a really dumb article ithat continues to perpetuate the myth that women who decide to grow their hair out gray might as well slit their wrists. Have a look and if you think it's stupid,  tweet them at @smh. It's important that we start calling out lazy journalism that perpetuates lookism and agism.

I also talk about things I'm learning like editing. You can check out the first vid I made - How To Love Your Wrinkles. I was also inspired by James Altucher and Steve Scott.

The Beauty Of Endings : How To Move Through The Pain

The Beauty Of Endings : How To Move Through The Pain

In this episode we're going where many others fear to tread. Endings. Endings are a part of life that most of us have been taught to avoid but what I'm loving about midlife is that finally we have the maturity and wisdom to creatively and spiritually work with endings in a way that will help us live a healthier life.

For this subject, I use the metaphor of sending our kids away to college - something that many midlife women are bracing for at this time of year, as the final year of high school draws to a close. The thing is, it doesn't matter whether you are going through this or not, all of us experience endings and I'm going to share with you five ways to look at an ending and turn it into a beginning.

The Power Of Gratitude: Thanking Your Midlife Mentors

The Power Of Gratitude: Thanking Your Midlife Mentors

When was the last time you thanked someone for the impact they've had on your life?

Many of us assume that those close to us or those who have a certain status in the world either know what they mean to us or have so much acknowledgement in their lives already that they don't need to know. And so the specific words remain unsaid.

In this episode I share why I love to thank the people that have made a difference in my life and why doing so inspires me, in turn, to live a life that can serve others. In addition to talking about the profound influence my friend Judy has had on my entire life, I talk about Duncan Trussell, a spiritual comedian whose podcasts have influenced not only my work but have inspired me through many of the transitions going on at midlife. I was able to thank them both recently which was a great feeling.

Three Ways To Approach Chaos At Midlife

Three Ways To Approach Chaos At Midlife

The beauty of life is that it's random. At anytime your life can be tracking along smoothly and then you get a call. Sometimes these "calls" are joyous and other times they absolutely suck and when we get to midlife, there's probably a chance you have experienced these brushes with extreme reality several times.

In this week's episode - partly recorded in my car while I was driving - I share a few ways to cope with the unusual situations. I believe that they are my best shot at getting through these times in a healthy way, versus falling in a stressed out heap. I hope you enjoy it!

Letting Go : How To Send Your Adult Kids Out Into The World!

Letting Go : How To Send Your Adult Kids Out Into The World!

One of the bittersweet aspects of being at midlife is that for all the amazing opportunities for growth, there are also times where we have no choice but to experience the sadness of loss. It is simply a fact of life which many of us long to avoid, but which can also be a profound and beautiful aspect of our life evolvement.

In this weeks episode of The Change Guru I share my experience as my youngest daughter prepares to leave home in a couple days. Like many of today's midlife moms, my kids have left the nest, then have come back and then left again. Because I've been through this before, I've compiled a list of 5 ways to approach this unique form of separation in a healthy way. Even if you're not a parent, you can take these principles and apply to them to any loss you are facing.
