Publisher Description

Book 5 in the Rivers of London series, from Sunday Times Number One bestselling author Ben Aaronovitch.

In the fifth of his bestselling series Ben Aaronovitch takes Peter Grant out of whatever comfort zone he might have found and takes him out of London - to a small village in Herefordshire where the local police are reluctant to admit that there might be a supernatural element to the disappearance of some local children. But while you can take the London copper out of London, you can't take the London out of the copper.

Travelling west with Beverley Brook, Peter soon finds himself caught up in a deep mystery and having to tackle local cops and local gods. And what's more, all the shops are closed by 4pm...

Took a while to get going…

…then picks up pace before ending abruptly.

I enjoyed it very much though it certainly feels like there's a part two to this.

Another thoroughly enjoyable and easy to read adventure from Ben Aaronovich. Just a few criticisms: Mr Aaronovich come along surely 15 months is too long. I had to re-read book 4 to remember what Leslie had been up to. Do remember most TV programmes recap 7-8 times in an hour and forgive memory lapses. I was a little disappointed there wasn't more development in the world of magic and mysteries of Nightingale and the Folly. I absolutely loved the development of relationship between Beverley and Peter and sidekick Dominic.
Thanks Ben, please don't make us wait another 15 months.

I love this series

But this book is a bloody slog.
It’s hard to wade through and then ends like a short plank off the edge of a pirate ship.
A very annoying, very arduous plank.
