Playing with Fire

Playing with Fire

Former Sugarland singer Jennifer Nettles brings sass and brass to her second album. Her hearty Southern U.S. pipes and theatrical flair give Playing With Fire a solid shot of musical depth and lyrical colour. Nettles can rock a barroom with the title track, where she struts lines like, "I wanna walk down every street/In a dress I shouldn’t wear”. Then she'll switch it up with plaintive sensitivity on the ballad “Unlove You”. But the winners are her more soulful country-pop tunes like “My House”, where she trades lines and harmonises with J.Lo.
