About Sabine Devieilhe

Sabine Devieilhe is a coloratura soprano known for her superstar list of opera roles and unsurpassed clarity in the French repertoire. Born in 1985 in Normandy, Devieilhe’s vocal talent was encouraged by a series of teachers while she studied cello and musicology, and she made her mark as Queen of the Night in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte in 2013. That same year, Devieilhe signed to the Erato label and scored an instant hit with a graceful collection of Rameau operatic arias, Le Grand Théâtre de l'amour. She lends her gift for Baroque ornamentation to many historically oriented performances and is praised for psychological insights in both romantic mélodies (Chanson d'Amour, 2020) and opera. Devieilhe’s shimmering technique creates an electrifying effect, whether in intimate recitals or Carnegie Hall performances, and she has continued to produce a steady stream of innovative recordings (four in 2021 alone), as well as expanding her repertoire in 2022 with a much-praised recording of J.S. Bach's Matthäus-Passion, BWV 244.
