About David Ward

In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. The scratchy sound of the Glenn Miller Orchestra playing PEnnsylvania 6-5000 on the family record player. That, and a vague recollection of both terror, and desperation to sing Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star at a karaoke restaurant when I was 5. What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Jeff Buckley, Live At Sin-é (Legacy Edition) [Audio Version] Michael Jackson, Off the Wall Nina Simone, Little Girl Blue (Remastered) The guide every time I play solo. It shows me what is possible. You can hear the joy in Michael's voice. Bruce Swedien creates sounds you can feel in your teeth. This album taught me another way to sing - a rawer and more vulnerable way to express. Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Sweetness Everywhere” The line, "sweetness everywhere," came from an interview with Leonard Cohen. If I had written the phrase in a song before reading this I would've thought it too saccharine. He gave me permission to write deeply into this beautiful line of thought. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? Opening for Lisa Fischer (The Rolling Stones). Her generosity and warmth towards me, before I even set foot on stage, allowed me to fly during my performance. It showed me who I want to be and how I want to treat others in our community. Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? I want to headline and sell out Radio City Music Hall in NYC. I want to ask for the house lights up so I can see my family in the best seats in the hall. I want to celebrate the evening and the milestone with those I love the most.
