In 2014, the UK Border Agency deported Cashief Nichols to Jamaica to straighten out his paperwork after 14 years in Britain. You can take the boy out of Peckham but he’ll still make enthralling UK rap (“Netflix (Everything)”, “Staying Up”), and the experience has clearly enriched his music. “I Remember” sets London street tales to a cut-up reggae beat while the evocative rhymes on “Where I’m From” recall growing up in Jamaica over rolling hip-hop drums and brass.
