About Jadis

Gary Chandler (guitar and vocals) and Stephen Christey (drums and percussion) founded English neo-progressive rockers Jadis in the late 80's and quickly scored some prestigious opening slots, including a coveted stint supporting progressive rock giants Marillion on their 1988 tour. The following year found them headlining London's legendary Marquee Club and recording their first demos with the help of Marillion guitarist Steve Rothery, but repeated line-up changes would force them to wait two more years before beginning work on their debut album, More than Meets the Eye. Released in 1992 by independent label Giant Electric Pea, the L.P. counted with guests appearances from fellow proggies I.Q.'s Martin Orford (keyboards and flute) and John Jowitt (bass). The following year's Once upon a Time E.P. paved the way to 1994's acclaimed sophomore album Across the Water, which the band supported with lengthy tours throughout the U.K. and Europe. 1996's Once or Twice E.P. introduced stand-in musicians Mike Torr (keyboards) and Steve Hunt, who stepped in while Orford and Jowitt toured with progressive rock icon John Wetton, and also performed on Jadis's next album Somersault, as well as 1998's As Daylight Fades live opus. Two years of silence would ensue, but 2000's Understand would reward patient fans by reuniting the band's ‘classic' line-up once again for extensive touring engagements. Subsequent Jadis releases have included 2001's Medium Rare ‘odds & sods' collection, 2002's Alive Outside live set and their fifth studio album in 2003's Fanatic. ~ Eduardo Rivadavia
