In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. I have two older brothers who are both guitarists and singers. When I was around 7 or 8 they'd let me 'sit in' on their rehearsals playing the drums! The kit consisted of various saucepans, plastic containers and wooden spoons used as sticks! What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Laura Mvula, Sing To the Moon This album just made me wake up and made me realise that I could make my own music and create my own sound. I emersed myself in this sound for many months and allowed myself to dream of being a solo artist! Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Ultimate Combination (feat. Mark Bassey)” This is a song that features my husband, trombonist Mark Bassey. It was great inviting him into my studio and asking him to play the solo trombone parts. I created a kind of trombone orchestra in one point of the song with echos and effects. Fun! What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? After many many years of complete and utter stage fright, I managed to get a band together in 2018 playing all my music, organise a gig and actually got through it. Six weeks before I was utterly petrified but I prepared and managed to do it! Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? To have one of my songs used in an Apple advert! That would be so cool :)
