Connie Walker is an award-winning investigative journalist Nana aba met when they both worked at CBC. After winning a Pulitzer and a Peabody for her podcast Stolen: Surviving St. Michael’s, Connie talks about how she decided to “shine the biggest spotlight” she possibly could on her family history with St. Michael’s residential school, why she left CBC, and how Indigenous representation in news media is changing.

Media Girlfriends presents: At The End of The Day with Hannah Sung

Media Girlfriends co-founder Hannah Sung has a new podcast! It’s called At The End of The Day with Hannah Sung. Hannah has a newsletter of the same name, which is a news perspective that puts people first -- relationships, caring, social fairness and the greater good. The podcast does the same, and you can listen to it at the end of the week to help process it all.
This first episode is about how to bring joy into your life, and features comedian and co-host of the Great Canadian Baking Show, Ann Pornel. Enjoy!

Enjoyable and inspiring

I really enjoyed listening to this podcast and found it inspiring even though I am not in media. I am in the policy world but I think many of the insights apply! I also like the segment at the end about would I have done something differently (Yes, especially as a women of colour and an immigrant professional in a largely white policy world).

The world needs #mediagirlfriends!

The world needs #mediagirlfriends! The podcast’s message of “by lifting her up I am lifted up too, as are we all” is a balm in this era of scarcity thinking that there isn’t enough success to go around. And the platform for many different perspectives and experiences ... it’s everything! I’m so glad and grateful Nana aba created it.
