Worth your time
I've been listening to this podcast for about a year and always learn something new and gain a fresh insight into a current media issue. Good for people working in the media and anyone with a passing interest in it's role in our society.
Alternative Views
Sometimes I feel Monica uses this platform to air her personal grievances with the public. Although no-one should be threatened or abused, journalists are not above accountability. Her personal friendships with Leigh Sales and Rachel Baxendale often colour her view. Robust debate is essential in a democracy and more so when there is a monopoly on media ownership.
Even some of the most respected of journalists have questioned Sale’s interpretation of some of her Twitter encounters. Maybe instead of being antagonistic, step back and look at the work of journalists that don’t encounter large scale pushback.
Feminine hygiene products are just the tip of the iceberg
I have just listened to the Fourth Estate's discussion about the controversy surrounding endometriosis research. This discussion is timely in view of the rejection by Parliament of the Greens bill to remove fat from feminine hygiene products. These issues are important to all women and deserve more airtime. This program provides an important insight into how such issues are regarded by the future leaders of the country. It should be required listening for the establishment and Miranda Devine.
